I truly think that the most beautiful time to do portraits on the beach is on cloudy days. It muffles that bright sun, allowing for the colors of the sky to shine through in photographs.

I never schedule a portrait session on the beach in the middle of the day. The light is harsh and unflattering. The best time to schedule your beach session is one hour before sunset. the “golden hour”.

“Dog Beach” in Imperial beach is such a perfect place for your beach session. There are so many different things to have in the background of your photos. The Imperial Beach Pier, the jetties, Coronado, La Jolla, and even a beautifully rusted old wall.

Hi there! My name is Ashlee Hayden. I am a professional photographer based out of San Diego, CA.

Actually, I have 2 full-time jobs: mother and photographer. I am mom to three sprightly boys, one feisty girl, and a wife to a very loving and supportive husband who has made my photography dreams possible. I have loved taking photos for as long as I can remember, and have been capturing memories professionally since 2011. This has allowed me the flexibility to do what I love while spending a lot of much needed time with my quickly growing children.
